The effects of the poor seasonal conditions in the eastern states of Australia continue to be reflected in the data for the 12 months to November 2018.
Livestock and meat slaughter monthly trend movements for November 2018:
Cattle slaughter decreased by 2,100 head (or 0.3%) in the month ending November 2018 compared with the previous month and increased by 62,800 head (or 10.4%) year-on-year.
Calf slaughter increased by 800 head (or 1.9%) in the month ending November 2018 compared with the previous month and increased by 9,700 head (or 28.5%) year-on-year.
Sheep slaughter decreased by 20,600 head (or 2.4%) for the month ending November 2018 compared with the previous month but increased by 166,600 head (or 25.1%) year-on-year.
Lamb slaughter decreased by 15,700 head (or 0.9%) for the month ending November 2018 compared with the previous month and decreased by 176,400 head (or 9.2%) year-on-year.
Pig slaughter decreased by 1,000 head (or 0.2%) for the month ending November 2018 compared to the previous month but increased by 3,000 head (or 0.7%) year-on-year.
